So this is the first of at least two sets on basic wardrobe. This is excluding accesories and what not.
Tops:
~button down shirt- I prefer the white and baggy kind, but a form fitting one is nice too :)
~plaid or flannel button down- ok, ok, so it's not absolutely necessary, but it's wonderful.
~t-shirt- the simpler, the better! (sometimes). Easy to style, layer, and accessorize! Important to have multiple.
~tunic- or shirtdress, something long enough to wear with leggings, but too long for pants.
~LBD- I think we all know why.
~tank top- well, it's a staple in CA. Easy to layer or wear with shorts in the summer.
Outerwear:
~blazer- sooooo versatile. Casual or dressy.
~denim jacket- same as the blazer, but in my mind, WAYYY more American.
~trench coat- I wear mine all the time in the winter, sometimes with a skirt and sometimes with jeans.
~sweatshirt- you can't live in blazers all the time. Plus, they're comfier than denim jackets.
~simple sweater- probably my favorite item of clothing EVER. I adooooore sweaters, especially the fisherman variety. Super important and 100% necessary.
Bottoms:
~jeans- yeah.
~shorts (the ones shown are leather)- stylish when you gotta stay cool. For further reference, see Rumi Neely's style.
~khaki trousers- work approriate and handy.
~black skirt- pretty much for the same reasons as the shorts, but more feminine.
~tuxedo pants-classy.
~maxi skirt- tres chic and superb.
Underpinnings:
~bandeau- for low cut shirts so you don't have to wear a tank top. Super flirty.
~black tights/leggings- for the tunic and cold days.
~push up bra
~patterned/ bright tights- playful but sophisticated if done right.
~bikini- for many, many, summer days.
